The Heir by Johanna Lindsey
‘s sensual romance. The Heir is the story of an arranged marriage that is desired by neither the groom nor the bride. Duncan MacTavish, Having lived twenty-one years in the Scottish Highlands, has recently learned he is the sole heir of an English Marquis and is now required to assume his grandfather’s title and estates. Not only that he is betrothed to Ophelia Reid, who is already the toast of London society for her beauty and is enjoying a Season of her own. Ophelia has plans, however, according to her Duncan MacTavish a Scotsman,is a barbarian, no doubt. If Ophelia can manage to make him the laughingstock of London before he even arrives there, then perhaps her parents will be mortified and let her out of the engagement. Sabrina Lambert has come to London for a Season with her maiden aunts, and She is being assisted by lovely Ophelia. Ophelia’s vicious tongue can spread gossip in all directions even over Sabrina, where as Sabrina’s sense of humor and sunny disposition garner her a few too many friends.Ophelia insults Duncan, who declares he’ll never marry such a woman. Sabrina, however, soon becomes good friends with Duncan, and this friendship leads to love.
Like Johanna Lindsey‘s other books this book too was no exception. I liked the way Johanna Lindsey wrote about her female characters – Sabrina Lambert is popular due to her personality and wit, not her looks. – Ophelia Reid a more self-centered and despicable character would be hard to find. Two very different different characters and very important in the story. It is about a young women with simple looks finding not only the man of her dreams but also his love. All in all i found The Heir is funny, simple and sweet.
