Going Home by Harriet Evans

Going Home by Harriet Evans is a cool British chick lit novel.  It’s a simple novel but I have to say its pretty good.  It’s not one of the greatest Chick lit novels or one of the funniest chick lit novels but still you can enjoy the book without getting bored.

Twenty something Lizzy Walter is living the good life, working in London at a film–production company and visiting her family’s manor in the country whenever she wants a change. Until, still stung over her boyfriend’s betrayal, she arrives home for Christmas with her sister Jess and cousin Tom to discover that Keeper House must be sold to pay her adored, but unreliable, Uncle Mike’s debts. Her family seems to have accepted the loss of their ancestral home, but she is in denial, so that while they are planning her aunt Chin’s wedding and packing up the house, she sequesters herself in her London apartment and broods, using sex as a panacea but refusing to commit to any relationships.

Going Home is the first chick lit novel written by Harriet Evans but its very impressive for a first novel. I’m looking forward to read other books of Harriet Evans.

Girl Meets Ape by Chris Manby

Girl Meets Ape by Chris Manby is pretty cool ChickLit novel. It’s not the best bur I think I enjoyed it. This is the only book I have read which written by Chris Manby. Its not those big comedy type chicklit novel but its more into light romance.

He’s the King of the Swingers. But she’s the Ice Queen. When Dr Jennifer Niederhauser becomes head of the chimpanzee project at Prowdes Animal Sanctuary, the uptight young zoologist looks forward to making her mark in the conservation world. But the regime is ramshackle, the chimpanzees uncontrollable and her first meeting with head keeper Guy Gibson finds him naked and covered in baby oil. She decides never to work with animals or the childish again. But, she may not have a job for much longer anyway – Prowdes is in big financial trouble. Salvation comes in the form of a TV documentary.

I think  its an average or below if I have to rate the book. But the storyline is nice and simple. I was not bored reading it. Girl Meets Ape is a British chicklit novel which you can finish in a day. I have to stay story didn’t keep thing moving like at beginning of the book. I think this might be the reason readers might simply grade the book as not so good novel. I can’t blame them for that.

Shopaholic Takes Manhattan by Sophie Kinsella

Shopaholic Takes Manhattan is another chick lit novel written by Sophie Kinsella. Its the 3rd book of  her Shopaholic series. If you read and like Sophie Kinsella‘s first 2 chick lit novels of this series, Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Ties the Knot the you are gonna love this book too.  Becky Bloomwood strike back ! and this time she is in deep shit !  Shopaholic Takes Manhattan typical totally girlish chick lit novel. Ladies would enjoy this book loads more than men !

With her shopping excesses (somewhat) in check and her career as a TV financial guru thriving, Becky’s biggest problem seems to be tearing her entrepreneur boyfriend, Luke, away from work for a romantic country weekend. And worse, figuring out how to pack light. But packing takes on a whole new meaning when Luke announces he’s moving to New York for business—and he asks Becky to go with him! Before you can say “Prada sample sale,” Becky has landed in the Big Apple, home of Park Avenue penthouses and luxury boutiques.

Surely it’s only a matter of time until she becomes an American TV celebrity, and she and Luke are the toast of Gotham society. Nothing can stand in their way, especially with Becky’s bills miles away in London. But then an unexpected disaster threatens her career prospects, her relationship with Luke, and her available credit line! Shopaholic Takes Manhattan—but will she have to return it?

Every page is filled with Beckyisms, wise words on shopping that are hysterically funny. You can finish reading this lite novel in 24 hours and if you are a girls then you will laugh the whole time while reading Shopaholic Takes Manhattan.

The Wives of Bath by Wendy Holden

The Wives of Bath By Wendy Holden is nice chick lit novel which is bit different from usual chick lit novels. Usually we finds young single characters going through all kind of things in chick lit novels. But in Wives of Bath its about Young married couples having problems with their new born babies.

A tale of yummy mummies with flat brown tummies in the mother of all romantic comedies|Four parents-to-be seem ante-natally sorted. Flash Hugo and Amanda have booked a chic private clinic and royal maternity nurse. Right-on Jake and Alice want an all-natural home birth with whale music and tree-hugging nappies. But nothing goes quite to plan. Amanda finds motherhood less glam than the stars make it look and disappears back to her career. Which leaves Hugo with the child and without a clue what to do. Alice has problems too. Bringing up baby to Jake’s eco-fascist standards means home-made organic everything and a recycled cardboard cot. Will nappiness bring happiness to anybody? Not before bed hopping spouses, beastly bosses and bitchy nursery mothers have all done their dreadful worst…

The ending of The Wives of Bath is completely predictable but the story is enjoyable. Its not a typical Wendy Holden novel. The Wives of Bath is bit different type of story. But The Wives of Bath has everything a chick lit novel should have. It’s well written, funny, poignant, and captivating.

Secret Admirer by Amanda Lees

Secret Admirer is a chick lit type romantic novel which is written by Amanda Lees. Its a light novel which is good for those who like to read the whole thing in few hours. Its a average lite romance novel with a happy ending. No complicated things there but just a love triangle with a twist.

Delilah had imagined her life was complicated enough. After all, when you’re the owner of a struggling but sophisticated boutique that demands your constant attention and the manager of a hedonistic and occasionally snappish Australian sales assistant, you don’t have a great deal of time to brood about the state of your love life. But when an intriguing – and oddly fragrant – postcard from a secret admirer lands on your doormat, there’s no escaping the thrill of wondering who the mysterious scribbler might be…that is, until the man of your dreams saunters through the shop door and sends your heart into restless palpitation. But is he the enigmatic secret admirer, or merely a coincidental bearer of romantic tidings? Delilah’s passions are about to fly into overdrive, although there are the small matters of a shop named Decadence and an assistant named Twizzle to keep her feet on the ground.

First few captors of Secret Admirer boring. Fireworks started like in 8 or 9th captors. Then the story was smooth and lovely. You would read without stopping wanting to know what happens next. It has something more than a normal chick lit novel. End was bit too fast. I wish story is bit longer than that specially the ending. Anyone I want to check how other novels which are written by Amanda Lees.
