The Heir by Johanna Lindsey‘s sensual romance. The Heir is the story of an arranged marriage that is desired by neither the groom nor the bride. Duncan MacTavish, Having lived twenty-one years in the Scottish Highlands, has recently learned he is the sole heir of an English Marquis and is now required to assume his grandfather’s title and estates. Not only that he is betrothed to Ophelia Reid, who is already the toast of London society for her beauty and is enjoying a Season of her own. Ophelia has plans, however, according to her Duncan MacTavish a Scotsman,is a barbarian, no doubt. If Ophelia can manage to make him the laughingstock of London before he even arrives there, then perhaps her parents will be mortified and let her out of the engagement. Sabrina Lambert has come to London for a Season with her maiden aunts, and She is being assisted by lovely Ophelia. Ophelia’s vicious tongue can spread gossip in all directions even over Sabrina, where as Sabrina’s sense of humor and sunny disposition garner her a few too many friends.Ophelia insults Duncan, who declares he’ll never marry such a woman. Sabrina, however, soon becomes good friends with Duncan, and this friendship leads to love.
Like Johanna Lindsey‘s other books this book too was no exception. I liked the way Johanna Lindsey wrote about her female characters – Sabrina Lambert is popular due to her personality and wit, not her looks. – Ophelia Reid a more self-centered and despicable character would be hard to find. Two very different different characters and very important in the story. It is about a young women with simple looks finding not only the man of her dreams but also his love. All in all i found The Heir is funny, simple and sweet.
Tender Rebel By Johanna Lindsey is the second book in the Malory Family series. This is the story of Anthony Malory, Regina’s adorable rakehell uncle in “Love Only Once and Scottish heiress Roslynn Chadwick.
Lady Roslynn Chadwick was an exquisite Scottish heiress, honoring her grandfather’s death bed wish that her fortune be preserved from her unscrupulous cousin and fortune-hunting scoundrels’. She has an urgent need for the safety of marriage.A ruthless, irresistibly handsome English rogue,Anthony Malory is everything she has been warned about.
One look at Roslynn he decides that he will be her lover after she is safely married. So he proposes to her that he will act as her adviser on eligible bachelors.Roslynn knows that Anthony can’t be trusted with anything but she still accepts Anthony to advise her for potential husband. But Anthony just can’t see Roslynn marrying off to someone else if not him and so he convinces and promises Roslynn his faithfulness. Anthony hunts down Roslynn’s cousin to put an end to his devious plans.
Even though I liked Anthony in the first book, i thought that in this book he was somewhat a bit promiscuous. But he is very romantic and also has asense of humor . Where as Roslynn seems very naive at first. But she too has gentle sense of humor . The fun and the romance between these two main characters is I think their constant bickering. All in all, “Tender Rebel” is a most wonderful read.Plus, “Tender Rebel” sets-up James’ high-seas romance in “Gentle Rogue,” the third in the Malory Family series. I think it is better to read Johanna Lindsay‘s Malory Family series accordingly, as each story describes or sets up the stage for the next in the series.
Johanna Lindsey is one of the most popular authors of historical romance. Her books are from the various eras of history, set in the Middle Ages, the American “Old West” and the popular Regency England-Scotland. the most popular of her books are the Malory-Anderson Family, a Regency England saga.
Love Only Once is the first book in this saga. The niece of Lord Edward and Lady Charlotte Malory, Regina Ashton is of uncommon beauty and incomparable spirit. She is kidnapped by Nicholas Eden an arrogant
bronzed, golden-curled seducer with a painful secret from his past which has harden him towards love or marriage.
This book has so much in it, Fate and scandal, tragic misunderstandings, storm-tossed dangers, and all these things bring the two lovers to the realization that love is that which can be lived only once in a lifetime.
I really enjoyed this book, its humor is so wonderful, also the whole Malory family take care of their own, resulting in problems for Nicholas. Johanna Lindsey‘s books are fun and to read and it brings out out every emotion in you.
