Azur Like It by Wendy Holden is another Chick Lit type Romantic Comedy. This book has the same old Wendy Holden formula, A mixture of wit, glamor, show biz sniping, romance and a happy ending. A light reading novel which is not up to usual Wendy Holden standards. The plot is kinda weak though I read the whole novel. It’s entertaining but not upto what Wendy holden fans expect from here.

Kate, a journalist in a small northern town, is fed up with covering black pudding championships for the Slackmucklethwaite Mercury and living with Mum, Dad and Gran in a semi called Wits End. When evil tycoon Peter Hardstone takes over the paper, slashes budgets and sacks staff, Kate’s career hits an all-time low. Gloom turns to glamour once Hardstone’s sexy son arrives to work on the Mercury. And when Kate’s sent with him to cover the glittering Cannes Film Festival, she can’t believe her luck. But it’s not all fun and games: behind the glitz and sunshine lies a dark mystery that is Kate’s most challenging newspaper assignment yet.

I like this Chick Lit novel though its not above average but it seems many of Wendy Holden fans have thought Azur Like it as quite bad book. Amazon is full of negative reviews of this novel. If you are new to Wendy Holden books then don’t give up just because this book. Make sure check her other books.

Take a Chance by Sarah Webb is Chick Lit type romantic comedy. This is a light read with Relationship ups and downs, and the ubiquitous family secret slips out at the most inappropriate time. Also Love triangles, challenges to friendship and sisterly rows and all kind of things which usually in Chick Lit novels. This book has balance between romance and humor.

Abbafab’, the hugely popular Abba tribute band, are in trouble. Gemma Redden has just broken her ankle and finding a new singer to fill her white platform boots at such late notice isn’t going to be easy. But desperate times call for desperate measures, and the youngest Redden sister, Mia, reluctantly agrees to don the blonde wig and sky-blue hot pants. For Mia, a shy piano teacher who has felt third best all her life, this is her big chance to prove herself to her two older sisters, Gemma and Wendy. Meanwhile, Mia’s oldest friend, Alva Ryan, is having a life crisis of her own, Her builder boyfriend and all-round-good-guy, Sean Malone, has just walked out and this time he swears he’s not coming back. And Alva’s sister, Kerry, is having rather unusual problems of her own. Things come to a head when Wendy has a terrible accident. Because Wendy is harbouring a secret that could blow the band apart and devastate the close bond of the Redden sisters. But secrets have a way of coming out when you least expect them to. And sometimes even the best of sisters gets it horribly wrong.

Sarah Webb was a children’s bookseller for 12 years and now writes full-time. She is not so popular about Chick Lit novels but she has written several good light reading Chick Lit novels. Take a Chance is not one of the best Chick Lit novels but still its a compulsive and entertaining read.

Bad Heir Day by Wendy Holden

Bad Heir Day by Wendy Holden is not one of her best Chick Lit novels. For some reason it doesn’t give you the all happy feeling usually you get at end. I understand why there were too many low ratings for this British Chick Lit novel. Even from Wendy Holden fans. One thing everyone has agreed is this is not Wendy Holden’s best.

At a lavish wedding in a castle on a Scottish isle, Geri suggests that Anna hire on as a writer’s assistant to learn the nittygritty of novel writing that wasn’t covered at the university. She ends up working for the illtempered, anorexic, and social-climbing bestselling author Cassandra, unaware that hiring her as an underpaid assistant was a clever ploy to find a nanny for the demonic Zak. Meeting up with Geri again she discovers that the fashionably dressed, affluent-looking young woman is actually a nanny in search of a wealthy husband, hopefully an heir to a title. Then Anna runs into Jamie, a waiter, who turns out to actually be laird of the castle. After a whirlwind lowkey courtship, she agrees to marry him and moves to his aptly named Castle Dampie, and soon all the major players are reunited in one of romance’s most hilarious laughoutloud scenes.

It looks the characters are not developed enough to let you feel connected to them.  It has trade mark of chick lit novels and romantic comedies, happily-ever-after ending but in a twisted way. Its a OK book but not the best. What I can tell you is If you haven’t read Wendy Holdens novels before then don’t start with this book. Try Pastures Nouveaux or The Wives of Bath which are better than this one.

Filthy Rich by Wendy Holden

Filthy Rich by Wendy Holden is nice soft romantic comedy which everyone can enjoy. This is not a disastrously romantic novel which is full of tragic situations. So “men” can enjoy this chick lit novel as well as women.

The beautiful village of Allsop seems to offer shire bliss until mud and money collide in this hilarious tale|When Mary meets Monty, heir to a stately pile, happiness seems assured. But as the mansion crumbles, passion wanes along with the heating. Banker’s wife Beth swaps Notting Hill for weekends at a bijou cottage. They only offered a smidgeon over the asking price. So why don’t the locals like them? Eco-harridan Morag is the terror of the village, with her objections to everyone and everything. A ber-WAG Alexandra needs a footballer’s mansion and fast. mbitions clash when the village launches an allotment project and no one escapes the bitter struggle over sex, power and money which threatens to blight more than everyone’s carrots.

If you looking for some light reading to take your mind off from your busy life and relax your self then Filthy Rich is a great choice just like any other Wendy Holden novel. Whole story is simply hilarious. All couples going through various funny situations and single people, middle ago village priest having a crush on head mistress of village school. You are gonna laugh and have a great time till you reach end of the book. Also it has a happy ending so you ladies wouldn’t need to cry for those peoples sake !

Talking to Addison by Jenny Colgan

Talking to Addison by Jenny Colgan is great Romantic Comedy novel if you like Chick Lit genre Romantic Comedies. Talking to Addison is full of fun situations, witty dialogues, hilarious disasters. This is a light novel which can relax your mind and fill it with positive feelings.

Holly Livingstone living in the land of nightmares. Her roommates are crazy clean freaks, and Holly just can’t take it anymore! So she begs her best friend, Josh, to let her move in with him and his roommates. she moves in with her college friends—the sexually undecided Josh and the workaholic penguin-eating Kate and their reclusive, C Plus Plus programmer flatmate, Addison. Addison, the gorgeous geek whose life revolves around the Internet becomes Holly’s object of desire, and she does whatever is in her power to get his attention away from his computer and online girlfriend.

Talking to Addison novel’s dialogues are quick paced, very British, sarcastic, witty and utterly coarse. These keep you laughing whole time while you reading the book. I was told Jenny Colgan‘s novel, Amanda’s Wedding is better than this. If its true then I can’t imagine how good that book is since this one is superb by it self. If you like romantic comedies then Talking to Addison is one novel you should read.
